Totally agree with your assessment of the flick, except one thing. Like all Pixar films, as you and commenters mentioned, it can be enjoyed by audiences across the spectrum on a multitude of levels. But, also like all Pixar films, the visuals are painstakingly constructed. WALL-E is definitely worth seeing in the theater. I felt like some of the shots of the post-apocalyptic (that’s right, human laziness on the level of an apocalypse) earth went by way too fast. There’s just too much to see from those burnt-out cities, to WALL-E’s apt., to the cast of a thousand different robots, to the world of the Axiom, to which the small screen can’t do justice.
One of the best movies of the summer, I think.

Finally saw this with my kids today and loved it! It made my seven-year-old laugh out loud which is very hard to do. My younger son got a little bored, but he has very different taste and a much shorter attention span.

Agree wholeheartedly; I saw it with my almost 20 year old son in Manhattan over the weekend, ducking into a theater to avoid a couple of hours of afternoon thunder storms. It was terrific, we saw it with an appreciative audience ranging from 5 to 85. A real gem.

I agree. However, the WGA deal with AFTRA (and the one the Screen Actor’s Guild is currently working on) should help solve some of that. I think (hope) that the studios know which way the wind is blowing, and will jump on board.

I think you’ll see a lot more titles for instant download on Netflix very soon.

Honestly, this news doesn’t excite me much. I have Netflix, and I’ve used the Instant Download feature a few times, but honestly, there are only a few titles on there I would ever want to watch. Most of their Instant Download fare is old TV show episodes that probably sell poorly as DVD’s. The movies they do have are mostly weird low-budget titles I’d never want to sit through.

I admit I’ve found a few movies I enjoy, and a few television series as well, but until they upgrade their offerings, I’ll be content just to watch them on my computer.

My own analysis: it could be cool if the studios will embrace it. Otherwise blah.

Last Friday I blew my entire 2008 movie budget when I took my family (wife and four children) to Regal to see Prince Caspian, and it cost me over $50 to walk in the door.

Very good point in the last paragraph…no one will stop raising prices until the consumer stops buying the product/service…
